WRITING FOR EARTH HERITAGE

We welcome contributions, but all articles should be agreed beforehand with the appropriate Editor on the Contacts page.

Deadline for articles for the next issue of Earth Heritage is 18 May 2015.

We do not publish unsolicited articles, we do not pay for articles and we prefer articles that have not been published elsewhere, either in printed publications or on the Web.

Earth Heritage is not an academic journal. It has a very broad span of readers, predominantly in the UK but also in many overseas countries. Articles should be written in plain English, avoiding technical jargon wherever possible. We strongly prefer brightly written articles which carry good illustrations and pictures with them.

Articles for Outcrops, the news section of the magazine, can be up to 400 words. Longer features can be 600, 1200 or (rarely) 1800 words with a good selection of pictures to accompany them. Articles should be submitted digitally in Word or .rtf format. Articles are submitted on the understanding that they may be edited to suit magazine style and available space.

If submitting publication reviews, please ensure you include the publishing details in the following order at the top of the review: Publication title. Author. Publisher. Year of publication. Price (if free, say so). ISBN no (if any). At the end of the review, please include your name and the name of your organisation. Earth Heritage receives a lot of books and leaflets for its Latest Publications section and pressure on space is heavy. Please keep reviews as concise as possible - no more than 250 - 300 words on a book and 120 - 150 words on a leaflet.

Pictures can be submitted as .jpg files. We produce our .PDF magazine at a resolution of 150dpi, suitable for readers to produce good quality images if they choose to print out pages on a laser or inkjet printer. We therefore like using images that are higher quality (and therefore larger in size) than those that appear on a website.

We expect article authors to have cleared any copyright issues on their images prior to submitting them to us.
